Abnormal AI, formerly Abnormal Security, is an email security platform that connects to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace through their APIs instead of sitting in the mail flow. Because it does not need an MX record change, it can be switched on without rerouting mail.
It builds a picture of how each person and vendor normally communicates: who writes to whom, from where, in what tone and about what. Messages that break that pattern, such as a supplier suddenly asking for new bank details or a fake executive asking for gift cards, are flagged or pulled from inboxes. This aims at text-only scams that carry no link or attachment and slip past filters that look for malware.
It also watches for signs of compromised accounts and offers a way to handle messages staff report as suspicious. It is used mostly by mid-size and larger companies. Ask whether your size fits, and how much review work the flagged messages create for your team.
